The Worst Date Ever

*Just as a disclaimer, this date was not with Darrell

I was talking with a co-worker today and she asked me what my worst date ever was. I was pretty disappointed to tell her that it was
Dinner at CiCi's Pizza
and watching Interview With a Vampire at the Dollar Movie Theatre.

I know that this isn't a glamorous date, but it really wasn't awful considering the fact that I was only 15 or 16.

So, I want to hear some REALLY bad ones. Surely someone has some funny or awful, sneak out the bathroom window date that they would share. Please, I need a good laugh.

Feeling Fall

I am pretty sure that nearly every family in Middle Tennessee with young kids goes to some pumpkin patch every year. This year we decided to have a little pumpkin patch party with Jackson's best buddies, their siblings and parents. It was fun for them to have playmates so the adults could talk. Well, the women talked and the men watched football.

Here is some of the kids in the hayless hayride. Really can I say that you should not advertise "hayride" if there will be no hay. How about 'tractor ride' or 'wagon ride'? Anyway

Here are the boys making their "scary" faces for the camera-oohhh.

Here is my confession: I was very afraid of moving all the way to Franklin. I thought it would be boring and that I would be far from friends. I was afraid that I wouldn't have fun, cool neighbors like I used to have, but I was wrong.
Thank You Darrell for being convinced that this was a good thing, because at least once a week I tell Darrell how much I love where we live.
For one it is b/c we do stuff like this:

Who doesn't want to live in a neighborhood where you know most if not all of your neighbors and your kids can do crafts, ride on tractors, play games and all that other fun kid stuff. That and the fact that on a daily basis we have the opportunity to talk to, love on and share the gospel with neighbors who don't know the Lord.
Oh and did I say thank you to D for making that possible:)

All Different Kinds of Sick

There are all different kinds of sick:
Sick of going to work
Sick of planning dinners
Sick of making lunches
Oh, wait we weren't talking just about me so on with it then:
This past weekend we experienced two kinds of sick:
The first was the kind that made me take Dramamine every day in Disney World:
It's also the kind of sick that only two grandkids can talk you into:) I have to confess that I laughed through nearly the entire ride-that is until I heard my mom ask the guy to turn off the ride. I then knew that this was no laughing matter-I did manage to document it first though.
Don't worry-Gee managed to slowly recover after they closed down the ride and let her sit there for quite some time-or at least she faked it well.
So we finished our day at the Memphis Zoo slowly walking around and all sharing a large fountain drink to get Gee through the ride sickness. Aren't we glad we can all share?

We shared quiet moments with Grandaddy
Sweet boat rides with siblings

And let's not forget about us sharing FLU GERMS! Aren't we sweet like that?

Turns out that Linley woke up Sunday with the FLU-EWWW. Not a single typical symptom except a fever.

She was soo sick I even let her play with my beloved 34 year old blankie (oh-thank you for noticing-of course I am not 34, but the blankie is)

Poor little punkin with her pricked finger-isn't she too pitiful?

Everyone is doing fine now and back to work. Hoping that Sick Sundays don't strike again soon:)

What I Love-He Doesn't

Why is it that the one sport that I really loved to play, my son could care less about? I promised Jackson that this could be his last season of soccer if he still disliked it at the end. Lord, please help him love it!

The past three seasons have been painful to watch as Jackson was usually floating around the field only half paying attention to what was going on.

This year Darrell can at least watch the games and we are focusing on the great improvements that he has. He at least touches the ball now-woohoo!

Anyway, he had a game Tuesday night in the rain. The kids thought this was so fun.

My bathtub did not as it was covered in grass after our late night baths. Linley LOVED playing with all the siblings and being soaking wet. It also didn't hurt that she got to partake in the after game drinks and snacks:)Onto a sunnier note: a much sunnier note. The Webb's joined Darrell and I for a little fall football tailgating this past weekend. We of course forgot sunscreen, but one more burn before the summer is over felt great.

Darrell and I represented the orange team: Trent and Claire the white:

Too bad neither won.

I won't mention any names, but I just had to add this picture, because this man is almost as persnickity as my husband and a persnickity man holding pom poms is just too funny not to publish.

Not a Lot

I knew it had been a while, but when my dad kindly reminds me that it has been three weeks then I KNOW it is time for a new post. You see I am more of a once a week girl.
Since I have gone part time I don't have near as much free time at work to, well, do personal stuff:)
That and the fact that I don't have a lot of material lately. That is unless you want to hear about me going triple couponing, saving 88% on my grocery bill, making PB & J sandwiches on tortillas since I had no bread or all of that other HIGHLY ENTERTAINING stuff.
Don't you wish they had a font called 'not really' or 'sarcasm'?

And then I ask Darrell to take a picture of Claire and I as we were tailgating last weekend and this is what I get: Don't think that is some fancy Mac blurring option on the photo. Honestly I don't have any idea how or why that happened. Oh and yes, Claire and I were huddled beside the car in the shade, because we are not professional tailgaters and did not bring a tent or sunscreen.

More blogs soon-I promise:)

30th Birthday Horseback Riding

For my birthday last weekend all I really wanted to do was go horseback riding. My two most awesome friends and Darrell planned a great day for us. So we started the horseback riding training on this one: Not really, but that would have been funny if Mandi or Damanda jumped on and tried it out. Maybe for her 30th (today) she could give us a show of that ride.

So here was our fun riding group (Linley was left out this time, maybe in a few years).

Jackson had one of the biggest horses and was a little apprehensive at first. Notice the timid smile.
It didn't take him long to get the hang of it and the guide decided it was time to let Jackson lead the rest of us, guideless, on a trail. He did a great job, but he did run over every small tree in the way.
After just a little longer it was time to run. I love the squeals of delight that came from Jackson as he bounced up and down on his horse. Those squeals helped to drown out the hint of fear I had from my 5 year old running on a horse.
But the story just would not be complete without talking about Darrell's ride. Let's just not say horse and call it a pony, Fancy. The biggest person on the trip on the smallest horse-gotta love it. Too much saddle-Not enough horse:)

Thanks for the best Birthday!

Happy Birthdays

So first thing is first: Happy Birthday Linley. I have terrible pictures from her 2nd birthday party, but this one was kind of cute.
Here are two things we love about Linley:
1. That smile and hair (she captivates every audience just by the power of her facial expressions)
2. Her desire to be around Jacksie (as she calls jackson) or me, or Darrell ,or Gee or just about anyone. She loves to be near people! Now on to my birthday, which hasn't actually happened yet-I am still 29 and 2 years younger than my Husband:)
However, as I came to work this morning I was hoping that I would get a homemade card from a friend here at work. She always makes the most hilarious personalized cards.

Well, I think I take back that wish, because this is what I got-oh and many of YOU are involved in the making of this card so THANK YOU VERY MUCH for making it hard to eat my delicious chicken mini's for breakfast.

Have no idea what I'm talking about? Just take a look at THIS post and the comments section and compare to the LOVELY words in red! So thank you to you all for a rather disgusting start to my birthday!
